Covergirl Simply Ageless Skin Perfector Essence Foundation Review

I tested the Covergirl Simply Ageless Skin Perfector Essence Foundation with a Sephora 64 brush, which worked perfectly with the encapsulated pigments. The controllable pump made it easy to get the right amount—about one and a half pumps for light to light-medium coverage. It applied smoothly, but building it up was tricky; it felt a bit too makeup-y with extra layers.

Initially, it looked pretty good, even with my combo/oily and maturing skin. However, it did cling to some dry areas I hadn’t noticed before. After a few hours, my skin got shiny, but the foundation still looked decent and didn’t settle into lines or worsen pore appearance. By the ten-hour mark, it had faded a bit but was still holding up fairly well. Just a note: it has a scent, similar to other products I’ve tried in the Covergirl Simply Ageless line, that goes away quickly after application.

Final Thoughts on the Covergirl Essence Foundation

The Covergirl Essence Foundation impresses overall but has its quirks. It tends to cling to dry areas, so prepping with exfoliation or moisturizer might be needed. It also doesn’t layer well, becoming cakey beyond one and a half layers. Despite this, it offers decent, skin-like coverage, even over my red areas, that lasts all day with minimal wear. It starts with a natural glow and becomes dewier over time. Even when it gets shiny, it still looks good. I plan to compare it with other skin tints I’ve tried and will share my thoughts in an upcoming post. As for the Covergirl Simply Ageless Skin Perfector Essence Foundation, it’s a thumbs-up from me.

UPDATE: I’ve been wearing the Covergirl Essence Foundation for well over a week and I wanted to give my updated thoughts. My feelings are essentially still the same as my review but I wanted to mention that I can’t stop reaching for this foundation/tint. It looks so nice on my – oily/combo/dry patches/red areas – skin. I don’t even need primer. The weird thing is, it doesn’t look fantastic when I first apply it, but within minutes it warms up to my skin and it gets better – and it keeps getting better throughout the day. Even when this foundation looks very dewy, it doesn’t settle into pores or fine lines. The only issue that I’ve experienced with this tint is it clings to dry patches. So I’m very very impressed with the Covergirl Simply Ageless Skin Perfector Essence Foundation.
