The Laura Mercier Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Foundation was launched this week, and I grabbed two shades for myself. This journey began when I got a sneak peek notification from Sephora a few days prior to its launch. Initially, I wasn’t convinced about getting it. I had recently resisted the temptation of the new KVD and Gucci foundations. However, once I saw the before and after pictures of models using the Laura Mercier Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Foundation, I was quickly adding it to my cart. It’s been several days since I’ve been trying out this new foundation, and I’ve gathered some insights to share, so keep reading.

Laura Mercier Real Flawless Foundation Application
The Laura Mercier Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Foundation, marketed for its lightweight and waterproof properties, initially seemed promising with its auto balancing technology and medium buildable coverage aimed to reduce shine. However, when applied, it felt thicker and greasier than expected.
Despite its bamboo silk powders for long-lasting wear, application was a bit of a chore; brushes struggled to glide smoothly and were left tacky and hard to clean. The foundation has a barely noticeable scent, fitting its true-to-skin, tinted nature.
The Laura Mercier Weightless Foundation comes in thirty flexible shades.
Laura Mercier Real Flawless Foundation Wear
I used the Laura Mercier Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Foundation several times before writing this review. The foundation is surprisingly light, though it felt a tad greasy on initial application. The weightless foundation left a beautifully blurred and perfected look, although it does tend to cling to dry areas.
For my first try, I went with two pumps, no primer. The pump is pretty efficient, giving just the right amount each time. After settling in, the foundation lost that greasy feel, leaving a smooth, velvety finish. It made my skin look naturally flawless, without the heavy makeup look. It’s quite sheer but builds nicely to medium coverage.
It reminds me a bit of the Chanel Ultra Le Teint Velvet but requires a bit more work to get it just right. And, it’s definitely waterproof – it stayed put perfectly, even after using a Netti pot.
Laura Mercier Real Flawless Foundation Review Wrap-Up
I have a theory about the Laura Mercier Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Foundation: its special features for shade matching and being long-lasting and waterproof might be interfering a bit with its oil content. Instead of evaporating right away, the oil seems to thicken making the foundation get tacky and feel greasy.
That said, I do like this foundation. Sadly, it didn’t agree with my skin and caused breakouts, so I had to stop using it. But, there’s something about it that’s intriguing. It gives off vibes similar to Chanel Ultra Le Teint Velvet.
The Laura Mercier Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Foundation did eventually blend into a seamless application, but it starts to set almost immediately, so you have to work fast. The auto balancing technology and medium buildable coverage with bamboo silk powders that keep shine at bay are noticeable. I have to agree with the name in that it has a real flawless look and weightless feel. If you’re curious, it’s worth a look.
